Top 5 Free Email Clients on Mac OS X
1. Mac OS X Mail

- Description: Mac Mail is the defatul Mail Application comes with Mac OS X distribution. It supports IMAP and POP protocols.
- Comment: Most of the time the Mac mail works well however, some of Mac users in my team reported that Mac Mail sometimes loses messages when moving them from one IMAP folder to the other.
2. Mozilla Thunderbird

- Description: Mozilla Thunderbird is an open source mail client application available on most of the platforms including Mac OS, Windows and Linux. It supports IMAP and POP protocols. Also you can install addon/extensions to enhance it features.
- Comment: Thunderbird lacks of the outbox feature. When sending an message, the sending process window is displayed until the process is completed, which I think it is ugly, why not send the messages in background? Although you can install some plugins to improve this, it is still not very convenient. Also from my experience, Thunderbird is slower than other email clients.
3. Opera Mail

- Description: Opera Mail client is the mail application comes with Opera browser, the fastest browser and Email client.
- Comment: Opera is a slick, small, fast and secure email client and RSS feed reader. Opera comes with a precise spam filter and smart folders that presorts mail learning by example. However, Opera does not support of HTML on outgoning messages.
4. Eudora

- Description: A classic Email client available on Mac OS. It does not support smart/search folders.
- Comment: I have not tried it on Mac OS. But some Eudora users who got experiences on Eudora for Windows may want to give it a try.
5. Mulberry

- Description: An open source Email client available on Mac OS X. It supports both IMAP and POP3 protocol.
- Comment: Never tried on Mac. Any comments are welcome.
